Eek! I forgot about the journal on my own dA page! I've been so busy since Christmas, I've forgotten a lot of things!
I guess, I update my actual online blog more, so if you want to know what I've been up to check here: bexylea.wordpress.com/
Most of my work on dA seems to be mail art based and I really need to get back into doing some photography and photo-manipulations. At the moment the only thing that's inspired me is the Alice, mini TV series on SyFy: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_(T…. So, maybe something based on that will be made at some point in the near future. I haven't watched the Alice in wonderland Tim Burton and Disney film yet, I really should at some point, even though I've heard mixed reviews about it!

Thousands of cards and gifts are sent through the postal system every year for one special day, valentines day. It's suppose to send a smile and lots of love to that one special person that you love.
How about spreading the smiles and love to someone you don't know? It's simple with mail art. Get a postcard or a blank postcard, add your own touch to it and send it to someone you don't know. It will bring a smile to not only their face but the men and women who work within the postal service. Usually when a piece of mail art is sent you'll receive one in return, this is a great and exciting project, as I have found out myself.

So, last week I started up a new dA group after deciding that I'd like to carry my graphic's project, mail art on after I have finished.
What is Mail Art?, you might ask!
Mail art is an art networking movement that heightened around the 1980's and then moved on to things such as Facebook. There still are some mail art, artists around along with some great books with information on how to get started. The great thing about mail art is that you can use any sort of media and let your mind run wild!
I don't know about you but I love to receive letters through the mail, it makes me so happy and it brightens my day. Mail art is not only a joy to receive it is a joy to make!
So, if you would like to get involved with Mail Art or you'd like to know more about it, please join our group and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Graphics Project and New Group!

As you all probably know by now, I'm focusing on Mail Art for my graphic design project this term.
So far I love looking at all the different styles and art media people use to make their mail art, there's so much to do and there are no limits to what you can do. There is so much freedom in it, it's great!
So, I have an idea in mind for my final piece but I'm not going to tell all just yet. If it does work out as planned though, it will be my favourite piece yet and something to definitely treasure.
To go hand in hand with my project I have made a dA group called Mail - Exchange. I wanted to create a place where people are able to post up there mail art (whether sent or received) so they can inspire other people. I would also like to create a small mail art circle where members can exchange mail art amongst each other. That's the plan anyway, whether it works or not is a different story! Fingers crossed though.
So, if you are interested in mail art (or postcard art as some people call it) please take a look at the group!
